Wright quoted Behar from the Time article:  “‘Those who criticize the church—journalists, doctors, lawyers and even judges—often find themselves engulfed in litigation, stalked by private eyes, framed for fictional crimes, beaten up, or threatened with death,’ Behar noted.

He accused the Justice Department of failing to back the IRS and the FBI in bringing a racketeering suit against the Church because it was unwilling to spend the money required to take the organization on.”

>> True Information: The true reason why the Justice Department didn’t “back the IRS and the FBI in bringing a racketeering suit” was discovered later when Freedom of Information Act documents were released. A FOIA document revealed that the Justice Department rejected the IRS’s request for prosecution because the case was so weak, specifically and in part, on an evaluation that the IRS witnesses received the lowest possible credibility rating.  Mr. Wright knew this and yet failed to include this vital information as it did not suit his slant to the story.
