Due to British false reports and the unsafe political environment at the time, the Apollo was forced to leave Corfu on March 18, 1969.  The ship had barely left Greek waters when it received an official apology from the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior for Greece who relayed the Prime Minister’s “personal apologies to Mr. L. Ron Hubbard for any unhappiness caused and I hope that he returns and will stay longer.” This communiqué was dated June 3, 1969.
